Cabin Fever

"Sarge, we found a note on the body," Corporal Jones said.

"Let's have a look then," Sergeant Anderson replied.

Jones passed the frozen note over to his Sergeant. He carefully unfolded it and read:

"To whoever reads this,

They went mad. I had to defend myself. There is something wrong with that place. I saw things there, in the shadows. I tried to burn the place down but it fought back. Please, someone has to stop it; it'll do it again.

Please, I love my family.

John Stone"

"We found two bodies in the holiday cabin. There is evidence of fire damage, nothing substantial," Jones said.

"What about him?"

"Hyperthermia. There's a bruise on his cheek nothing life-threatening. We haven't moved him yet, though."

"OK. Let forensics finish off, then close the case."

"But Sarge, this is just like last year."

"And the year before, and before. You're too young to remember the start. Trust me, this is the way it has to be. Close the case."
