Consolation

We Interstellar Marines signed an oath in our own blood to defend Earth from alien invasion.

Aliens never came, but a 1,000-mile wide asteroid did. A one-man suicide mission would destroy it.

We drew straws to see who'd guide a nuke-filled rocket. I drew the last straw - the shortest.

Rocketing toward the asteroid, my nerves failed, until I realized that my name would appear in history books, forever.
