Senior Moment

I know who I am.

I laugh at my absolute inconsequence;

I cry at the thought of you dying.

I know who I am when I falter, trying to understand how chords progress to a new place. I play the progression over and over, for days, wishing

I had greater muscle memory; greater quality as a human being.

What is great and greater?

I'm trying, believe me, I'm trying.

I miss myself on the dance floor, doing the tango and the rhumba and a sexy cha cha.

I used to get noticed.
