The Winner's Circle
Whoever stands on the rail the longest, ‘til the rest scatter, plaster themselves to the concrete railway tunnel walls - they call that one the Winner. For that to have happened, first the Winner almost left town with his folks for the weekend. They went as a duo. He stayed with these friends, long-time train-dodgers. The car was backing out when the Winner's father stopped to move a bicycle. Ten-fifteen seconds. Then these kids appeared, asked could the Winner run with them, if somebody's mother would call. Mom said Family Vacation. Dad said He's worked hard. Give the boy a break.
